Morgan & Sam: Denis Bay & Peace Hill St. John Beach Engagement Session - Virgin Islands Photographer
You know when you meet people and just really click? Like you’ve been friends for years and could’ve rambled on forever about who knows what? This was Morgan and Sam for me. Seriously the sweetest, most fun couple. They're from Louisville, Kentucky and were visiting St. John with Sam's family. Sam's aunt and uncle have a vacation home on the island so St. John has always been a big part of Sam's life growing up. It was so cool to capture their love and engagement session in this special place. It was a beautiful night and I'm so happy that they flew me over from St. Croix to hang and shoot with them!
We met up for a quick drink at The Longboard in downtown Cruz Bay (this place is so good and my go-to for St. John restaurants) and then drove out to Denis Bay and Peace Hill. We hiked down to the beach before sunset and caught the softest, most beautiful light. This white sandy beach and clear blue water is so hard to beat. They were such good sports during the shoot - even when Sam fell in the water and got completely soaked! We dashed up to Peace Hill for the very last light of the day and watched as the moon rose high over the island. We chatted about life and growing up and traveling and wedding planning and everything in between. Popped a little champagne and danced around to Petit Biscuit's "Sunset Lovers" song (it's one of my favorites on my photoshoot playlist - give it a listen!).
After we hiked back to the car, Morgan and Sam dropped me off at the ferry dock so I could head back to St. Thomas. Morgan screamed out "see you in another life!" and I nearly shed a tear. I have met and connected with some of the best people through this incredible job and it is so wild to think that I never would have met them if it weren't for photography. I feel like I'm in the right place at the right time. So many different forks in the road have brought me here - to St. Croix and the US Virgin Islands, to this incredible new career, to being more open and outgoing, and to loving this life through it's ups and downs.
Anyway, now I just want Morgan and Sam to move down to the Virgin Islands so we can be best friends.
